Time, Workload & Impact: Managing Competing Priorities as a VET Trainer & Assessor
Course

Sustain quality practice without normalising overload
This module supports trainers and assessors to move beyond reactive coping strategies and develop a more intentional, professional approach to managing competing priorities. It reframes workload as a function of role complexity and system design, rather than individual resilience, and builds capability in making defensible decisions that protect learner outcomes, assessment integrity, and professional wellbeing.
The module explores the realities of contemporary trainer workload, the three dimensions of the trainer role, and the difference between high-impact and low-impact work. Participants are guided through practical strategies for prioritisation, risk awareness, and reflective practice, and supported to recognise and respond professionally when workload becomes unsustainable.
This module is designed for trainers and assessors working in RTO environments who want to sustain quality practice without normalising overload. It strengthens professional judgement, supports continuous improvement, and reinforces workload management as a shared responsibility that underpins safe, ethical, and effective VET delivery.
