In this session recorded in November 2025, explore the new Guidance for AI Adoption from the National Artificial Intelligence Centre (NAIC) in using AI safely & effectively while meeting the 2025 SRTO expectations on governance, risk & outcomes. Built on national and international ethics principles, it sets out 6 essential practices that build learner trust, protect assessment integrity, improve service delivery & give leaders a clear roadmap through a complex governance landscape.
Foundations — for RTOs beginning AI adoption, using AI in low-risk ways, or personnel new to AI governance
Implementation practices — for providers developing or integrating AI across multiple functions or operating in higher-risk contexts
Start across all 6 practices to establish baseline responsible AI governance. As your use grows or capability matures, step into Implementation practices for detailed how-to. Apply organisation-wide practices where relevant, and system-specific checks to each AI use case, for example marking assistance, learner support chatbots, timetabling or candidate screening. Document everything so you are audit-ready and can learn & improve over time.

The best part was gaining an overview of the breadth of implementation requirements
Understanding how it is still early & that it will develop more & more over time
The importance of developing strategies to deal with it
Systematic approach & the takaways
The Takeaways as always well supported the learning undertaken in the workshop
Phill always brings a level of detailed understanding to the topic that gives me high confidence that the guidance is valid,
well backed in policy & expectations & can be used to steer my RTO forwards
I have attended other similar AI sessions, however this one provided so many more takeaways & supportive templates
& covered the focus in a much more valuable "why" way for me
The final bit about the sherrif etc did help bring it all together really well - loved the analogy!
Thanks Phill, very informative & a bit scary :)
