Better understanding of living in two worlds

Led by Jillian West, this session is tailored to practitioners at all levels – from those new to the topic to advanced professionals – and aims to enrich participants' knowledge and understanding of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities, both historically and in contemporary society.

Attendees will gain a nuanced perspective on the duality of living in both Indigenous and Western societies, comprehend the enduring effects of colonisation, and learn effective communication and engagement strategies with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples. This is an invaluable opportunity for practitioners eager to expand their cultural competence and contribute to a more inclusive and understanding environment.
