Workbook provided & Tools used - use the 'Cause-Effect Map' and 'Metaphor' thinking tools.

Each tool is dealt with twice. The first exercise/activity is completing a tool on a topic chosen. The second exercise/activity is where each participant spends 5 minutes using that thinking tool on a topic of their choice, which they will have established at the start. Practice two thinking tools, the first exercise/activity based on selected topics, and the second exercise/activity to practice by using both thinking tools to suit their own purpose.

Thinking skills & tools

In this manner, each attendee will practice two thinking tools per webinar, the first exercise/activity based on selected topics, and the second exercise/activity to practice by using both thinking tools to suit their own purpose. Thinking Skills & Tools A thinking skill is determined by the task verb used in the question or activity. E.g., “Discuss this proposal, marketing plan, technique, solution”. ‘Discuss’ is the thinking skill.

 

Explanation of terms 

  • Bloom. Benjamin Bloom. Psychologist who in 1957, classified the way we process information. This is known as Bloom’s Taxonomy of the cognitive Domain. This has since been updated.
  • Taxonomy. The classification of the different levels of Cognition or processing material. 2
  • Cognition. The way we think about or process data or stimuli. These are thinking skills which are identified by the task or focus verb/s.
  • Cognitive Domain. Areas of thinking about or processing data or stimulus. These are, from foundational to higher levels of cognition or higher-order thinking skills, as follows. Remember, Understand, Apply, Analyse, Evaluate and Design
