Introduction to Trauma-Aware Education
Course
Understanding trauma & its educational impact to practical strategies for trauma-aware teaching & assessment
How can educators create a supportive and inclusive learning environment for students impacted by trauma?
In an era where mental well-being is as crucial as academic success, it's imperative for educators to be equipped with the knowledge and skills to support students facing trauma.
Trauma, often a hidden barrier to learning, can significantly impact a student's educational journey. This workshop aims to illuminate the complexities of trauma and its effects on learning. By understanding the diverse needs of trauma-impacted learners, educators can develop strategies that go beyond traditional teaching methods, fostering an environment where every student has the opportunity to thrive.
You’re invited to join trauma education expert, Feren Yen for this webinar, "Empowering Educators: Navigating Trauma in Vocational Education”. This valuable session offers a transformative opportunity for vocational education trainers and assessors to become champions of trauma-aware education.
Understanding trauma is not just about recognising its presence, but also about comprehending its profound effect on a student’s educational experience. The workshop delves into the complexities of trauma, outlining how it can be a hidden barrier to learning, and equips educators with the knowledge to identify and support trauma-impacted learners.
Covering a range of topics, from understanding trauma and its educational impact to practical strategies for trauma-aware teaching and assessment, this session also addresses legal, ethical, and organisational considerations. Importantly, it focuses on the professional well-being of educators, offering tools for self-care and resilience.
Attendees will leave with a comprehensive understanding of trauma and trauma-aware education, equipped with practical skills in trauma-aware teaching and assessment, and insights into the relevant legal and ethical frameworks.
